VP RACING REFORMULATES THREE NHRA FUELS
NHRA Outlines Plan for Implementation of New Formulas
SAN ANTONIO, TX -- VP Racing Fuels today announced it has reformulated three of its NHRA-approved fuels—C11, C23 and C25. The new 2012 blends will be available for purchase at the NHRA Winternationals at Pomona for dyno and track testing, but may not be used in competition at this event. Beginning March 7 th, 2012 the new 2012 formulas will be permitted for use in competition. Use of the pre-2012 formulas will be permitted in competition until December 31, 2012.
The 2012 formulas will have a slightly higher octane and a slightly higher specific gravity, while the vaporization and energy content of the fuels have not changed. "We do not anticipate any tuning changes will be necessary,” said Steve Burns, VP’s Director of Research & Development. “Performance could possibly improve because of the higher octane and racers can expect more detonation protection. Pro Stock engines in particular have evolved since we first designed C25 and increased demands on the fuel. With C25 being a spec fuel, this reformulation will not change the balance of power in Pro Stock, but should help with engine life."
The new formulas can be ordered from VP’s Regional Distribution Centers, contact information for which is listed on VP’s website at vpracingfuels.com. Technical questions regarding the reformulated fuels can be directed to VP’s Tech Support staff at 812-878-2025 or dragtech@vpracingfuels.com.
