VP RACING OFFERS FUEL SOLUTIONS FOR VINTAGE AND COLLECTORS' CARS
Ethanol in today’s unleaded pump gas is harmful to fuel systems in many engines, causing problems including corrosion, deposits, moisture absorption and consequently hard starts. This is particularly true of older classic and vintage vehicles, whether it’s sitting in the fuel line of a Deusenberg in a museum, a ‘65 Vette that sits in the garage under cover all winter or vintage racecars competing on the dragstrip or oval track.
VP Racing Fuels, Inc., known for producing race-winning fuels for all forms of motorsports around the world, has developed two new fuels to combat the problems encountered by vintage racers who currently use street gasoline containing ethanol to compete. According to Jim Kelly, VP’s Director of Race Fuel Sales, VP’s new products – “ ‘VP Vintage TM” and “C9 TM ” – start quicker, make more power, lubricate, burn more cleanly and can sit for years without losing their luster.
“For older vehicles that relied on lead for engine protection, VP Vintage is a leaded fuel product that contains no ethanol,” said Kelly. “It offers extra protection against detonation with an octane rating of 98 (R+M/2) and is formulated to sit for days, weeks or months without losing the ability to fire at the first twist of the key. VP Vintage offers a solution superior to fuel additives by preventing any ethanol-related problems from occurring in the first place.”
“If your engine doesn’t require the benefits of a leaded product like VP Vintage, it can still benefit from our C9 ethanol-free unleaded fuel formula,” Kelly continued. “Like VP Vintage, C9 prevents ethanol-related problems and has an octane rating of 96 (R+M/2) that ensures better detonation protection and superior performance compared to pump gas. With a shelf life of at least two years, C9 offers worry-free storage for cars that sit for extended periods, and improved performance when the cars are taken to the track. ”
“For the first start of the day or of the season, VP’s fuel formulas will save your engine the abuse associated with prolonged cranking,” Kelly said. “ While these fuels cost a bit more than street gas, it’s a small price to pay compared to the savings on fuel system rebuilds and dead batteries! Instead of dealing with the frustrating delays, downtime and costly repairs caused by pump gas, you can rely on leaded VP Vintage or unleaded C9 for the long-term protection and start-up performance your car deserves.” Both VP Vintage and C9 are designed for use only in racing competition on tracks or closed courses, and are not legal for use on the street.
