 | L'ESTAGE, WITH CO-DRIVER RICHARD, OVERCOMES TURBO TROUBLES TO CLIMB HIS WAY BACK TO THE RALLY AMERICA TROPHY.
| | JULY 17, 2010 L’ESTAGE CLAIMS HIS CHAMP CROWN WITH AN IMPRESSIVE COMEBACK
NEWRY, ME (JULY 17, 2010) With the Rally America Championship title on the line and a day of unfortunate mishaps, Antoine L’Estage, along with co-driver Nathalie Richard, defined the art of a comeback at the New England Forest Rally. Using VP’s Rally Max fuel blend, the rally pair powered themselves back to the podium to become the 2010 Rally America Champions.
Travis Pastrana, with his four-straight title triumphs was set to bow out as champion with victory at the gravel event, but soon found out what the underdogs, L’Estage and Richard, were made of. Pastrana experienced catastrophic engine failure at the penultimate stage.
“The win was nearly in sight when our engine began to hit trouble, but that’s rallying,” said Pastrana. “I’m so happy for Antoine and [his co-driver] Nathalie [Richard], they are probably the most friendly team in the series, and I really enjoy competing against them. They had a great year and deserve to be the champs.”
Multiple Canadian champion L’Estage, along with Richard, only needed a fifth-place finish to secure their title in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Despite the turbo problem that dropped them from second to fifth, they fought back up to second and inherited the victory when Pastrana hit trouble.
L’Estage’s main title rival, Bill Bacon, lost five minutes with a puncture. Ken Block had led the event in his Monster World Rally Team-run Ford Fiesta only to crash out on the fourth stage.
“It has been a hard road getting here,” said L’Estage. “We only planned to run four events in America this year, but when we found ourselves in contention for a title after the Olympus Rally we mustered up more funds. I am very thankful for my team and the incredible work they put in, especially our team manager John Buffum.”
Rally season isn’t over. The same teams will be fueling up with Rally Max for ESPN’s Summer X Games 16 on July 31.
| | | JASON FEGER TAKES THE CHECKERED AFTER FIGHTING OFF JEEP VAN WORMER FOR MORE THAN 40 LAPS.
| | JULY 16, 2010 FEGER TAKES SUMMER NATIONALS CHAMPIONSHIP; VP FUELS 9 0F TOP 10
ATTICA, OH (July 16, 2010) Ohio race fans had a rare treat this past weekend as the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour entered its championship weekend Friday night at Attica Raceway Park. Jason Feger, who had been on top in the overall standings through 26 events sought his first series crown and came out victorious. Feger fueled his racecar with VP113 to get him to the checkered, leading 9 of the top 10 Summer Nationals finalists who used either VP113 or Late Model Plus, including Dennis Erb, Shannon Babb, Jeep Van Wormer, Ryan Unzicker, Billy Moyer, Jr., Brandon Sheppard, Rodney Melvin and Brian Shirley
There has been no rest for the weary this month as DIRTcar participants have been subject to a grueling schedule placing them at races all across the Midwest. Feger has fought hard and Friday night he sealed the deal by holding off Jeep Van Wormer for 40+ laps to earn his second Hell Tour victory. In doing so, Feger also clinched his first DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour championship.
"You feel every bump, every vibration, and all the noise with so much on the line," said Feger, the 2009 DIRTcar Late Model national champion. "I'm just glad the pressure is off and we can get back to having fun.
Feger expressed his desire to add one more win to his sterling season in the series finale. A win like this brings Feger that much closer to unseating the three-time Hell Tour champion, Dennis Erb Jr.
"It means a lot to finally beat Dennis. He's been so good on this deal for so long. That guy is just so good and is always consistent. He and I race together a lot and we're both fierce competitors. It also feels really good being the first Bob Pierce racecar to win a Summer Nationals. It's just a pretty awesome feeling right now."
For Feger, this win was no easy feat considering the challenges Van Wormer had thrown at him. The winner was properly rewarded though, collecting $5,000 for winning at Attica, plus another $25,000 for the DIRTcar Summer Nationals crown.
"It was a long 40 laps, especially until the last green flag stretch," Feger said. "I knew Jeep had a softer tire on the left than I did and he was firing really well down on the bottom on the restarts. I just needed a few laps to get going."
Van Wormer settled for a second place finish just ahead of Matt Miller. In total the Hell Tour has traveled more than 4,900 miles in the course of 30 nights. This race marked the 27th event since the 2010 tour started on June 16.
| | | DOLLANSKY WITH SUPPORT OF HIS TEAM AND FAMILY TAKES PODIUM AT CEDAR LAKE.
| | JULY 11, 2010 WIN #2 AT CEDAR LAKE COULDN’T FEEL ANY BETTER FOR DOLLANSKY
NEW RICHMOND, WI (JULY 11, 2010) Sure, Craig Dollansky got to stand on the podium and receive the recognition for a fantastic win Sunday night, but he always remembers to thank his team personally for their dedication and hard work. And a team effort it was as Dollansky Racing came out on top at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin to earn their second A-Feature win of the season with the series and Craig’s second career win at the high-banked 3/8-mile.
There were plenty attempting to chase Dollansky down over the course of this 30-lap contest. Jason Sides started on the pole and looked for the top spot at the green and Sammy Swindell moved into second attempting to challenge Dollansky. Then, Jason Meyers moved into the runner-up spot later in the race and got alongside the leader a couple of times just prior to the halfway points of the race.
"It feels great to win," said Dollansky. "We have a very strong team here and everyone works so hard and they certainly deserve to win. It's been a long time since we won a race this year and it's not from a lack of effort, that's for sure. It takes a lot of work to get that done. We had a good dash draw which helped as well, but when you have something like that you have to capitalize on it. I was trying to not give the race away. I feel like I have given a couple away this year and was trying not to beat myself."
Dollansky stayed in front for three restarts choosing the low line for the first two and moving to the top of the track for the final restart on the 14 th lap. He used a strong start each time to charge into turns one and two as the leader.
"I did not want to give it away," shared the veteran driver, when asked about the move to the top on the double file restart. "I was in the lead at Grand Forks (River Cities Speedway) and gave it away on that final restart and I didn't want to let my team down tonight. My team has worked hard and we have had a couple of races slip away by my fault and a couple of mechanical problems. This is a great team. It's great to win with a lot of family and friends here and with our car owner Tod Quiring in the house. I couldn't be happier for everyone involved."

| | | AN EXCITED PATRON HIGHCROFT RACING TEAM CELEBRATES AFTER THEIR 3RD CONSECUTIVE AMERICAN LE MANS WIN.
| | JULY 11, 2010 THE 1ST, 2ND, AND 3RD TIME’S A CHARM FOR BRABHAM AND PAGENAUD TOOELE, UT (JULY 11, 2010) Patrón Highcroft Racing (PHR) scored its third consecutive victory in the American Le Mans Series on Sunday with a hard-fought victory in the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix. Simon Pagenaud drove the final 1:45 in the team’s HPD ARX-01c, and the PHR crew took advantage of a quick final pit stop to beat Emanuele Pirro to the line by 19.116 seconds at Miller Motorsports Park. “Coming in to this weekend we knew it would be the toughest race, so that’s what makes it so satisfying - having a package that is not as appealing as others on paper,” said David Brabham, Pagenaud’s teammate who drove the opening stint. “So to come here a bit against the odds shows what’s so special with this great team. We were trying to decide what to do (for the last stop). We could watch what the others were going to do. We asked Simon if they (the Michelin tires) could go another 20 minutes and he said they`d do just fine and they did.” Pagenaud, who qualified on pole position, and Brabham haven’t lost since the Long Beach round in April. Sunday’s victory was a hard-fought one considering a couple of disadvantages for the PHR car. The high altitude and long front-straight favored the bigger cars like the turbocharged prototypes in the field. No problem for PHR’s dynamic duo, especially with quick pit work. The team’s final stop was 18 seconds quicker than the final stop for Drayson. Pagenaud pitted 19 minutes later, and the PHR crew short-filled the fuel tank with VP Racing Fuel. As a result, the team gained 18 seconds worth of advantage. “Thanks to the PHR team for what they did in the pits,” Pagenaud said. “We were a bit loose from the lack of rear wing but we got it back toward the end. I kept pushing and kept pushing to make good lap times and I could then take the lead again during pit stops. Being able to take the win is just amazing.”

KOPP MADE ALL THE RIGHT LINES FOR A VICTORY AT I-96.
| | JULY 11, 2010 KOPP GIVES COMPETITION A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY AT I-96 DAYTONA BEACH, FL (JULY 11, 2010) AMA’s best of the best came to I-96 Speedway on Saturday to duke it out on the well-known half mile. Joe Kopp was tested at the beginning of the weekend, but overcame two restarts and took his #3 Harley to victory in round eight of the K&N Filters Grand National Championship.
Jake Johnson on his #5 bike took the hole shot on the first start, but could not duplicate it the second time around. "I knew I had to get out front and not make any mistakes," said Kopp. "I was the veteran, I should be able to keep the 'kids' behind me." Kopp took command and pulled away from Johnson as his attention turned to a fight for 2nd with Kenny Coolbeth as the second red flag came out. A single file restart saw Johnson looking to make an inside pass on the first turn, but his fate was sealed as Kopp maintained his walls. Coolbeth continued to put pressure on a 2nd place Johnson, but no better luck. Late in the game Sammy Halbert, Jared Mees and Chris Carr attempted to make it a six-way race, but after lap 22 the top positions were set.
Kopp, with a commanding lead, took the checkered. This win gives him a 13-point advantage over Johnson with Henry Wiles and Sammy Halbert just a few points behind.
