Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki takes Victory at Canadian Season Opener
Brett Metcalfe sweeps MX1 class in return to Canada
The Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki team, fueled by VP Racing Fuels, kicked off their 2015 season this past weekend as the CMRC Canadian Motocross series debuted in the team’s hometown – Kamloops, British Columbia and after a great day of racing, emerged with the win and the red plate for the points leader with 2013 Champion, Brett Metcalfe, making a successful return to the Canadian series.
After being unable to defend his title in 2014 when he was tasked to fill in for the injured Ryan Villopoto in America, the Australian, Metcalfe, was back and worked hard to ensure he’d be able to add a second Canadian title to his collection. Right from the start of the day, he made sure that there was no doubt who the rider to beat would be, as he qualified Number One. Even a tip over in moto one wouldn’t derail his march to victory as he quickly worked his way into the lead to take the moto win. In moto two, he led every lap to make it a clean sweep and the overall win. Metcalfe is happy to be back in Canada and to start things off with a great day: “I’m excited to be back up here. The team and I have been working hard to get prepared and I’m glad everything went so well today. I know all the tracks now so it makes things a lot easier, I’m going to keep working hard and get back that Number One plate.”
