Wienen Clinches his Third Championship
Wienen clinched his third consecutive AMA ATV PRO MX National Championship this past weekend in dominating fashion at Red Bud MX in Buchannan, Mich. After going 1-1 for the weekend and making Round 8 his sixth overall win of the season Wienen secured the championship a round early. Teammate Thomas Brown took fourth overall at Red Bud after going 4-4. Wienen used VP Racing Fuels as he dominated the AMA ATV PRO MX season.
"It's been a memorable season this far, so pumped to be able to win my third consecutive championship early at Red Bud again. I'm focused on finishing up the season at Loretta's on a strong note and carry this momentum through the off season. Thank you to everyone who has been there to support me through the season I couldn't be here without the help and support of all of our team sponsors and friends." said Wienen.
In moto 1 Wienen Motorsports' Chad Wienen found himself in fourth coming out of the first turn and teammate Thomas Brown was close behind sitting in sixth. By the end of the first lap Wienen had moved his way up to the second place position and Brown had moved into fourth where he would battle to remain the rest of the moto. Wienen went on to make a pass for the lead on the second lap and went on to take his first checkers of the day.
As the gate dropped for the final moto of the day, Wienen made his way to the front of the field and snagged the moto 2 holeshot. Wienen never lifted when he came across the checkers first with an eight second gap on the rest of the field. Brown came out of the first turn just outside the top five and once again was able to move into the fourth place position by the end of the first lap. Brown set his sights on breaking into the top three but was unable to make any advances and with his 4-4 finish for the weekend finished fourth overall.
Wienen Motorsports Pro-Am Rider Nick Gennusa finished sixth overall after a 9-4 finish on the weekend. In his first moto had a rough start and came across the end of lap one in 12th and was able to work his way up to the ninth place position before the end of the moto. In moto 2 Gennusa had a better jump on the gate and was able to come out of the first turn in the top five. Gennusa went on to finish fourth giving him sixth overall.
The series will take a week off before it heads to Loretta Lynn's in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. for the final round of racing for the 2014 season August 9th.
