BEAR LAKE, PA (OCTOBER 4, 2010) Rick “Boom” Briggs came home a happy man after a weekend of winning in Pennsylvania. Running his racer on VP’s Late Model Plus, Boom dominated the competition at both the “Big Kahuna X” hosted at Allegany County Speedway and the “Topless 30” held at Central PA Speedway. Boom finished the weekend of winning with his first United Late Model Series (ULMS) Championship title.
At the “Big Kahuna X” on Saturday, Briggs won his heat and drew the outside pole for the 44-lap feature event.  Boom took the lead early and stayed out in front leading every lap of the race.

When Sunday came, Boom was in the zone and ready for the ULMS season closer. After dominating his heat in “The Bear Lake Banzai”, Briggs made a well executed pass on Bump Hedman for 1st during lap 8.

“The biggest thing for us this weekend was luck, we had good pill draws which put us up front each night. The car was great all weekend too but, to get good draws really helped.  We’ve been struggling real bad the past few months but my guys have been working hard to get this car going fast again, most of the credit goes to them…We went back to the basics and all the sudden we were fast again.  We didn’t change the car at all, all weekend.  This says a lot considering Cumberland and Clearfield are two totally different tracks…when the car is good, it’s good.  Everything just came together for us this weekend,” said an ecstatic Briggs.
