BATESVILLE, AR (JANUARY 8, 2011) Billy Moyer Jr. opened the season with his guns drawn as he came out with an impressive win at the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout held at the USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ. His #21 car, with that Bullock Racing Engine under the hood, performed with excellence as VP’s Late Model Plus rushed through its fuel lines. Moyer’s win gave him a great boost start for the beginning of a long Super Late Model season. Plus, the $3,000 purse was a nice cherry on top.

Billy rose from the crowd of 49 talented competitors to claim his first win of the year and his first ever Wild West Shootout victory. Billy started his day by blasting from the second starting position to a heat race win, which earned him a spot in the redraw for the feature.

Billy drew a third starting spot for the feature and raced hard for thirty laps ultimately gaining the podium and $3,000 at that swing of the checkered. Earlier on in the race however, Moyer battled for third before sliding as far back as the fifth position!

As the race progressed though, Billy's car began to function as one with the racer and by lap 20, he blasted past the pack leader, Jeremy Payne, on the low side to claim the win. Over the remainder of the event, Moyer Jr. motored away to win by over a straightaway.

Even though the winner’s purse was not the biggest of his career, Moyer Jr. commented that mentally this was his biggest win. “To beat this field of cars means so much for me and my team. This was really something special to us,” commented the 23 year old driver.
