OAKLAND, CA (JANUARY 30, 2011) AMA Supercross rolled into Raiders Stadium at Oakland for the first time in history this weekend and despite inclement weather and a nasty spill during his qualifying round, James Stewart pulled himself together to shine during the 450s main. The young rider grabbed his second gold for the 2011 SX season aboard his number 7 Yamaha YZ450F full of VP Racing Fuels’ MR-Pro5. Not only did the talented Stewart take the checkered for this race, he snagged the points lead from a fellow VP user, Ryan Villopoto.

Beginning at the qualifying round, Stewart shared his holeshot start with Kyle Chisholm at the beginning of Heat #1. Bubba quickly pulled away from Chisholm and the rest of the pack, leading every lap en route to a seemingly easy win. He ended the day with the fastest lap coming in at 43.948 seconds.

During the main event Stewart started in the top five and made it to the second spot by the end of lap 1. The track proved to be a technical one, but Stewart powered through it with smooth and clean lines. Villopoto washed out his front end before one of the berms on lap 3. Bubba led the pack from then on.

Each lap Stewart shaved off some time gaining a massive lead against the others. After leading 18 laps, Stewart whipped his bike over the finish to celebrate the day’s victory and his new top spot on the standings chart. Congratulations to all Oakland winners! Stay tuned to for more AMA Supercross action.
