LAS VEGAS NATIONALS? NO PROBLEM FOR STEVE KINSER.

LAS VEGAS, NV (MARCH 4, 2011) Using VP’s M1 Methanol, Steve Kinser made it through two double-file restarts all within the final three laps last night for the finale of the Las Vegas Nationals. This victory marked Kinser’s fourth World of Outlaws Sprint Car win this season.

For 27 whole laps, Kinser kept his #11 car straight as he wove through traffic almost flawlessly. His biggest obstacle all night was longtime rival, Sammy Swindell, who Kinser proved to hold off from that checkered. Making the race a bit more dramatic, Kraig Kinser spun out with only three laps to go and Paul McMahan flipped his racecar as S. Kinser was coming up on a white flag. This series of events set up a furious battle to the checkered between S. Kinser and Joey Saldana.

Kinser opted to restart on the top side, hoping to pin Saldana's racecar under him. The two went into the first corner with Kinser blasting around the cushion and Saldana cutting to the bottom and sliding up in front of Kinser in the second turn. Kinser's momentum shot him by Saldana down the backstretch and they would repeat the maneuver again on the next lap. Kinser then cut to the bottom in Turns 3 and 4 on the final lap and shot down the frontstretch to the checkered flag.

"I wasn't sure how well our car was going to hold up there on the last restart," said an exhausted Kinser, the Bloomington, Ind., legend who is chasing his 21 st World of Outlaws championship this season. "I knew Joey had a really strong car and I thought he had me beat."
