JCR/HONDA VICTORIOUS AT THE 45TH SCORE BAJA 500!
The 45th Baja 500 was set to be a battle for the ages with 4 super teams consisting of the most talented Off-Road desert racers in the world all set to do battle on a freshly minted 499 mile Baja 500 course. The JCR/Honda team of Timmy Weigand, Colton Udall and David Kamo were the team to beat coming off a win at the SCORE Baja 250 and widely known as the "Best in Baja". The speed and experience of the JCR/Honda program was on full display at this year’s Baja 500 as the team executed their race strategy to a T.
Weigand started the race and then immediately handed the bike to Udall. Udall rode 215 miles and put the bike into the physical lead at race mile 130 and gained a 6-minute gap over all racers. Next up was David Kamo who stretched out the lead to 11 minutes during his 100-mile section. Weigand rode the next 140 miles and added 21 minutes to the lead before passing the bike back to Udall for the final 45 miles to the finish.
"I'm very pleased with the overall effort. The racers pre run plan was excellent and prepared them to succeed. Our master technician Eric Siraton has been working very hard this year and built us a rocket-ship of a race bike. The support of our pit staff is overwhelming and I can't thank the crews enough for all they do. The JCR/Honda Baja race system was built by my mentor Bruce Ogilvie. His legacy is the key to the way this team operates and key to our success. I want to thank SCORE for all the efforts to keep racing alive and strong in Baja. I want to thank my team and I want to thank our sponsors who are committed to racing and committed to supporting our efforts,” said JCR team owner, Johnny Campbell.
